Wilderness Medicine Curriculum Director
Position: Part Time - 20 hrs per week (plus optional instruction hours and eventual full time position)
Salary: $24,000 per year (plus additional per course payment)
Location: Remote
Travel: Occasionally
Qualifications:
Paramedic License or RN
Experience teaching Wilderness Medicine at the WFA, WFR, and WEMT levels
Capable of working remotely and independently
Capable of using various technology and digital platforms including Google services
Agrees with online and remote learning options for wilderness medicine
Familiarity with the Base Medical delivery model and the delivery model of other wilderness medicine organizations
Role:
The Wilderness Medicine Curriculum Director will work closely with Base Medical’s CEO, Training Director, Medical Director, Production Director, curriculum authors, and other team members to develop Base Medical’s Scope of Education and online wilderness medicine lessons. The Curriculum Director will improve, update, and develop Base Medical’s online wilderness medicine lessons, which includes written text and multimedia.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and Develop the Scope of Education
Update Wilderness Medical Curriculum
Assist with establishing Base Medical’s program for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Work with the production team
Create an Advisory Board
Communicate with Training Director and Instructors to identify curriculum improvements
Review student feedback about the curriculum and online lessons
Serve as a project manager on select projects with curriculum authors and advisory board to develop or update curriculum
Advise and report to the Base Medical CEO and other directors on areas of program improvement, stats, and milestones
Contribute to a healthy company culture
Expectations:
Meet every two weeks (minium) with the Base Medical team, primarily the CEO
Act professionally with all Base Medical team members, clients, advisory board members, curriculum authors, and students.
Maintain a solution-oriented and respectful attitude.
Represent Base Medical and it’s mission publically in a professional, positive, and collaborative manner
Work in alignment with Base Medical’s mission, values, and Public Benefit responsibilities
Working a strictly set schedule, such as 9am to 5pm, is not mandatory. However, the Curriculum Director will be expected to be available via phone call, text, or email with timely response to the Base Medical CEO and other directors.
The Curriculum Director is expected to report progress to the Base Medical CEO and Directors and receive or give guidance on projects.
Undergo a bi-annual leadership evaluation and performance review
Attend Base Medical annual meetings
Cross train in core operational areas of the company
Teach a minimum of two in-person and three remote courses per year
Applicants will be screened and interviewed by the Base Medical executive team. A background check is required for employment. No health benefits are currently offered at this time. Selected applicant will work a 6 month probation period that may result in termination at the end of the probationary period.
